Exercise Physiology
Exercise Physiologists are university qualified health professionals who specialise in the prescription of exercise and interventions to manage and treat life-long conditions.
Within disability, the role of Exercise Physiology can change depending on your goal. Therapy may be used for younger children to reach developmental milestones and improve on their gross motor profile.
For teenagers it may be improving strength and fitness, sport specific skills or reducing stereotypical behaviours and improving socialisation in a group environment through physical activity. For adults it may be function based – using exercise and movement as an intervention to walk longer, stay mobile, holiday and be independent with ageing.
Each intervention is tailored to ensure it is goal focussed and patient centred with an evidence based approach.
